Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know About Our Services.
What types of concrete work do you offer?
We specialize in concrete restoration and finishing. Our services include:
Structural repair: Restoration of buildings, columns, slabs, and foundations.
New concrete and formwork: Pouring of bullnose stairs, patios, garage slabs, and sidewalks.
Epoxy Coatings: Installation of 100% solid epoxy and polyaspartic for residential and commercial garages and underground parking lots.
How to repair cracks or damaged surfaces in concrete?
To ensure a lasting repair, we do not simply fill the hole. Our professional process includes:
Demolition of contaminated or deteriorated sections.
Rebar treatment: We cut rusted steel and replace it with new, treated rebar.
V-cut and cleaning: We open cracks to ensure maximum adhesion of the new product.
Pouring and finishing: Use of high-density concrete or structural repair mortars.
Can old, cracked concrete be painted or covered?
Yes, but preparation is the most critical step to prevent the product from peeling off after a year. Before covering concrete, we systematically perform:
A diamond grinding to open the pores of the cement.
A moisture test to ensure the floor is ready to receive a coating.
A complete repair of imperfections (cracks, holes) with industrial epoxy or polyurethane products.
Is it better to repair or replace concrete?
This depends on the structural condition of the slab, which we analyze during our submission visit.
Repair: If the slab is stable but has surface cracks or localized crumbling, restoration with a self-leveling compound or a protective coating is often the most economical and effective solution.
Replace: If the slab is severely damaged to the point where the rebar is completely compromised or the ground is uneven, we recommend breaking up the existing concrete and proceeding with a new pour.
How to check if a concrete contractor has their RBQ license?
This is an essential step to protect your investment, as concrete work often affects the building’s structure.
Online verification: You can consult the register of license holders on the official website of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ).
Certified expertise: At Bétonik, we are professional cement masons holding all our competency cards and our RBQ license, which authorizes us to perform residential, commercial, and structural work.
